Film Competitions 2019

The first REEF short film competition showcased 9 short works created by 15 young women and men from Akkar with limited prior experience in audiovisual production. These emerging filmmakers had participated in a storytelling and filmmaking workshop, where they were mentored by a professional team over 12 sessions. The films’ common theme revolved around rural life, with a focus on characters rooted in the countryside, as well as the richness of nature. The short films were screened during REEF Encounters first edition. A jury gave two awards and two special mentions, while the audience voted for a third one.
